Girls' night in.

There was a quick but big thunderstorm late afternoon today which was conducive to curling up inside for the evening. We didn't need dinner after our big lunch so got by snacking on leftovers.
How many people can you fit in a hospital bed?

The girls watched the NZ movie, "Boy" on Rosie's computer then we played boggle, gin and scrabble. By then it was about 9pm and Rosie was feeling quite tired. She hadn't had any naps today and only 6 hours sleep last night so we started getting ready for bed. Jessye is sleeping with Rosie tonight so that she has some comforting support before her big day tomorrow. The angiogram is very important because it will tell us whether Michael has removed all of the AVM or not. He's confident he has but we still have to wait and see. Rosie has agreed to have the angiogram with just some sedation this time as opposed to every other time at Children's Hospital when she had a general anaesthetic. Michael explained to her that the procedure will be much quicker and less of a big deal if she does it this way. It involves a small tube entering at the groin and being fed right up the artery to the AVM site where dye is shot through the area to show whether there is still any flow through any veins of the AVM. We hope not! Rosie's angiogram is scheduled for 9am tomorrow morning.

I will go over tomorrow morning earlyish to make sure I can at least accompany her downstairs to where it will be done - I'd really like to see the whole thing but that's probably not going to happen.

Sea treats

David popped in late morning with roses and chocolates.

Then Merlyne came with lunch and what a lunch! She'd been to the legendary Sydney Fish Market after taking our sushi orders last night. The sushi was just the beginning, though. We laid out a feast from the sea...

Sashimi, sushi, oysters, prawns, salad, guacamole and cherries. We ate and ate and ate till we couldn't anymore.

The girls went up to the room and Merlyne, David and I caught up on some of our mutual rellies. We were still sitting around when Jo, Sandro, Sarah and Sofia came to visit. Merle and David left and the Costantinos came up to see the girls. More often than not during the day, the wrong daughter is in the patient's bed, confusing nurses and visitors alike. Sarah brought some cannoli she had made herself - very tasty.

Day 6, slow Sunday

I wandered over to the hospital just before 8am, having already had breakfast at Travelodge and put the laundry on, even though Rosie hadn't rung me yet. I figured breakfast would be arriving at 8 so Rosie would probably be awake soon if she wasn't already. I went up to the 3rd floor garden and saw that her blinds were still shut so sat there for a minute which was all it took before she rang. Breakfast had arrived, including porridge for Jessye so we summoned her over. Sophie straggled over not long after.
Rosie had slept reasonably well, waking once because she was too hot under the blanket and then being woken at 6:30 to take Panadol even though she was sound asleep. She was peeved about that one and didn't want panadol then so we must remember to tell the night nurse tonight to just let her sleep if she's not awake with a headache. She had a mild headache later on waking so took Panadol while we were there. Jessye had her porridge and we spent some time on Robyn's puzzle which is quite challenging.

At about 9:00, Rosie felt like having her All Bran downstairs so we all went down, Rosie and I had hot chocs and we played boggle.

Back in the room, more puzzle time while Jessye books some Japanese hostels and now Rosie's having her shower.
