Rosie's reward

The blog has been somewhat unattended due to Wilma having flu for a couple of weeks but apart from Sophie having got a version of it too, things have been going very well. Rosie is in fine form and has been enjoying getting back into athletics at school. The risk to her seems minute in relation to the pleasure she gains from participating. No news yet on when Rosie's next MRI might be but Wilma will be calling Wirginia Maixner this week to see when she'd like to see us. Jessye is gradually finding more of a place for herself at Lauriston and her Saturday morning netball team is doing well. Sophie is back in good health after missing the first week of term.

On Saturday afternoon Peter dropped Rosie, Jessye, Sophie, Greer, Joey and Wilma (somebody had to pay the bill) off at Melbourne's #1 five-star hotel, the Westin, for Rosie's Reward Party. Rosie has had this fantasy for some time now and it seemed like just the thing to reward her stupendous efforts this year. The ladies enjoyed 24 hours of unbridled sloth and luxury in their superbly appointed interconnecting rooms, making full use of the hotel facilities and service. Sophie kindly consented to sharing a room with Wilma which gave her the advantage of her own king-size single bed. The other four had a queen and two extra fold-up beds. After two visits to the pool, two meals in the restaurant, two lots of room service and several movies (checkout had been generously extended to 4 pm on Sunday) they reluctantly went back home to assume everyday life.

This Wednesday, Rosie and Wilma will be going on the Grade 5 camp - two freezing nights away somewhere but thankfully in cabins, not tents. Rosie was very keen Wilma should come on this one as one of the two lucky parent helpers. With a few weeks off MSO at the moment, it was hard to say no.
