Day 17, a leaving date!

Rosie and I had a leisurely morning, sedentary in contrast to yesterday's constant marching about the place. We had stayed up late last night working on the world puzzle and she was keen to finish it. We alternated between doing some speech and reading homework and puzzle. Michael and about five amigos came and admired our puzzle collection. He couldn't resist putting a couple of pieces in the new one. He said we'd be talking to John Fuller, Gamma Knife specialist, tomorrow. John's in Canberra till then so it couldn't be sooner. He reiterated that he might not be recommending we go ahead with radiation but nevertheless we, or rather they, would still go ahead and discuss Rosie with John. The big news, though, was that we can go home on Saturday! Rosie was of course very pleased and Michael said it was the first time he'd got a real smile out of her.

We polished off Ina's delicious prawn pasta for lunch.

After lunch a beautiful box of flowers arrived for Rosie and me.

Because of her reading difficulties at the moment, she was too impatient to read the whole card but she picked out NFPS (North Fitzroy Primary School) and gave it to me to read to her. It was from the NFPS mums and daughters. Six of us mums with daughters in Rosie's year level at primary school (all of whom went on to MLC), have continued to meet regularly for dinner, several times a year, for the last six years. It's been very special to share all of the ups and downs and important occasions in our daughters' lives, not to mention our own lives, with such a warm and interesting group. Rosie was very touched, all of you, as was I. Thank you so much.

We finished the puzzle and put it on display with the other two.

Rosie posed with them, unusual for her!

She wanted another one to do till Saturday so I went to Macquarie Centre to find one. There wasn't much choice and I had to get a tough 1000 one instead of the quick 500 I'd hoped to find. She and Alex have been working on it for about an hour and she just told me it's hideously difficult. I guess we'll be having another late night...
