Another MRI
Today Rosie stayed at school by herself for the first time and Wilma rather missed mosaic day. She picked Rosie up at 2:30 to go to Children's Hospital for her MRI. Rosie was disappointed that special maths was later today and she only got to stay for fifteen minutes of it - more reason for a post-MRI reward. In the picture of leaving school it's clear to see how Rosie has compensated for her right field of vision loss by turning her head to the right even when walking straight ahead to give just a little more accessibility to that right side. She will also walk real right angles when turning a corner - that seems to feel safer to her than cutting the corner and risking bumping into something or someone.
Earlier in the week during one of the birthday shopping expeditions Rosie had twisted Wilma's arm and scored (in advance) a beautiful new teddy known as MRI teddy as compensation for enduring three MRIs so far.Today MRI teddy and Rosie headed off remarkably cheerfully for the familiar territory. Rosie was running and laughing and even doing a dance while waiting for the lift. In the MRI waiting room the most important task is selection of today's video from quite an extensive collection. The considerate staff have rigged a system of mirrors so that when the children are lying completely motionless for quite a long time in the narrow and very noisy tunnel of the MRI machine - in Rosie's case, about forty minutes today - they can look straight up into a mirror and watch their choice of movie played on a screen past their feet. Today Rosie chose Princess Diaries. After MRI bear had been scanned by the MRI technician and given the all clear (no metal bits) Wilma, Rosie and bear entered the inner sanctum. Wilma with industrial strength ear muffs/headphones and bear sat in the corner to give moral support and watched the movie inside out from the back of the screen.
Afterwards Rosie chose a visit to her favourite Scottish restaurant on the ground floor for her reward.
The girls had piano tonight where Rosie and Jessye went a bit mad in the corridor while Sophie was driving Ching Ling a bit mad at her lesson.
Back at home Peter gave Rosie a lesson on how to use her new mobile phone which of course is her pride and joy.
