Old girls
This week we had a belated visit to the Pancake Parlour, one of Sophie's favourites. We had intended to pop in on her birthday but didn't make it. There is a giant chess set in the window.
At work the MSO had a few goodbyes for Barb Glaser who has now moved to Auckland to be the Auckland Philharmonia's CEO. Watch for her to make a few waves.
And then Melbourne said goodbye to the Commonwealth Games in suitable style with the city again exploding all over the place with fireworks. At first they just burst out of the MCG and then the whole place went up in smoke.
On Thursday my old friend Rosalind Horton nee Maud came to stay for three nights. She is in the first violins of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and is also an old friend of Sandra Dick. We had a fantastic reunion celebrating all our 50ths (Rosalind's is any minute and Sandra's was last year). There were many meals out including one with Meg Hansen, Jessye's school Principal who was also a classmate of ours and an MSO concert I wasn't playing in.
Rosalind took over pancake duties this morning then I took Jessye to the Yarra where she was meeting a school group for a day of sea kayaking.
When I came back Rosalind was making a fur scarf out of a strip of material for me which was a big hit with Sophie. We tried hard to get Rosie to smile for the camera.
After a final brunch at Carlton's legendary cafe, Brunetti's, we took Ros to the airport, picked Jessye up and resumed normal life.
