Coming along nicely

Sophie is coming along nicely on the cello and Rosie is back in full swing on her violin with string orchestra every Saturday morning and a concert coming up on June 4.

Finally, on May 8, Rosie had her 10th birthday party... four months late. Nine girls including the Watt three started at home then trammed downtown for some bowling. Sauntering back home through the streets of Chinatown and hopping on another tram felt very cosmopolitan. Once back home there was time for a few games including everybody's favourite which involved balancing an M&M on top of a pile of flour, taking turns cutting away the flour around the sides of the M&M until the lucky person who causes the M&M to fall has to eat the M&M with no hands ie plant the face into the plate of flour and capture the M&M in the mouth.

Rosie's radiosurgery is now confirmed for June 9 with a team of anaesthetists from Children's Hospital, radiologists from Peter McCallum, a neurosurgeon and the stereotactic planners who drive the computer programme. On May 27 there will be a preliminary fitting session at Peter Mac during which they will see whether she is small enough to use the reusable kids' frame which would allow her to have two short anaesthetics on the real day or whether they have to build the single-use adult model on her on the day which would entail one long anaesthetic covering the whole day's proceedings.
